Joseph and Potiphar's Wife

Joseph prospers in Potiphar's house — "the LORD was with Joseph." Then Potiphar's wife attempts to seduce him, and when he refuses she accuses him falsely. Joseph is thrown in prison, where again he prospers. The refrain "the LORD was with Joseph" appears four times in this chapter. The ANE section explores the Egyptian Tale of Two Brothers, one of the closest ancient parallels to any biblical narrative.
