Terms of Use

By using TELL, you're agreeing to the plain-language terms below. This is a personal, non-commercial study project, and these terms are written to match that — not to be an aggressive legal document.

Last updated: July 2026.

What this site is

TELL annotates the Bible with archaeology, manuscript history, and cross-tradition context, as described on the About & Method page. It's provided for personal, educational, non-commercial use, free of charge.

Content and accuracy

Everything on this site is informational and educational — it is not scholarly peer review, legal advice, or a professional academic publication. We cite our sources and try hard to get things right, and we say plainly when evidence is thin, contested, or partial (see the three-tier evidence system on the About page). But dates get revised, identifications get overturned, and this is, honestly, a prototype: we don't warrant that every claim is complete or free of error, and we'd genuinely like to know if you spot one.

Scripture text and licensing

The Bible translations used on this site — the King James Version, World English Bible, American Standard Version, and Young's Literal Translation — are all public domain in the United States and require no permission to read, copy, or redistribute. The archaeology summaries, commentary, and annotations are original writing produced for this project. Photographs are used only where the license is clearly public domain or Creative Commons with attribution, as described on the About page; if you believe an image is used incorrectly, we want to fix that.

No warranty

This site is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including, without limitation, warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Use of the information here, for any purpose, is at your own discretion.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, TELL and its creator aren't liable for any damages or losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site or its content.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the site grows. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. The "last updated" date above will always reflect the most recent revision.

This is a plain-language description of an independent, non-commercial hobby project, written to be accurate and honest rather than to serve as a formal legal document. It hasn't been reviewed by an attorney, and nothing here is legal advice.
