Joseph's silver cup is hidden in Benjamin's sack. The brothers are caught and brought back. Benjamin will be enslaved. Then Judah — who twenty years earlier suggested selling Joseph — steps forward and delivers the longest speech in Genesis: an offer to take Benjamin's place as slave so his father will not die of grief. This is the moral climax of the Joseph narrative: Judah has changed.
