The Genealogy of Adam

Most readers skip this chapter. They shouldn't. Ten generations from Adam to Noah, each ending with the same drumbeat: "and he died." Every single one — except one. Enoch, the seventh from Adam, simply isn't there anymore. God took him. That interruption, buried in a chapter most people skim, is one of the most extraordinary verses in the entire Bible. And when you run the math on the ages, Methuselah dies the year of the flood.
