The Flood

The flood narrative is structured with a precision most readers miss. The number seven runs through it like a thread — seven pairs of clean animals, seven-day waiting periods, forty days and nights. The text is not chaos; it is counted catastrophe. And when the waters rise until "all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered," the creation account of Genesis 1 is systematically reversed: water covers the earth again, the land disappears, the creature-kinds that God had separated are overwhelmed.
